Migration to Office365

We are starting the process of migrating from Exchange on prem to Office 365 hosted exchange. Wondering if others have done the same, and if they have an recommendations on getting SCSM to connect to O365 mailbox's.
In all my test cases I am getting a 403 Forbidden response when attempting to connect. I think it might have something to do with O365 requiring a logon of user@domain.com but when you set that in the linking framework it attempts to connect with domain.com\user.

For us, the usernames are COMPANYNAME.onmicrosoft.com\user

Tried that and getting 403 forbidden.
Since we are running ADFS we recently created a cloud only account and still getting the error.

Hmmm...only other thing to suggest would be username@company.onmicrosoft.com

The linking framework of SCSM will not allow that, if you type it in, the system changes it to your example.
