performance issues with multiple file attachments

Many of our business units leverage our service manager implementation, one of which is our Legal unit.

They love file attachments and also attach many action log emails to the work item. Has anyone had much experience with this type of usage and what are the performance implications with this?

Our business uses attachments a lot, and most of our request offerings allow to add attachments, and I have never experienced, or had reported, any performance issues.

We also set our attachment size limit up to 10MB, and multiple 10MB attachments had absolutely no performance impact to load of the work item.

That's promising to hear thanks David.

Do you deal with many attachments created from the exchange connector at all?

We do... We attach a copy of the email to the work item as well, and receive hundreds per day.  The Exchange Connector is rather solid in my experience.

Do you know if it's at all possible to change the names of the entries on the action log? Some of our users have had feedback that it's hard to find the correct entry/attachment as it just has the format of email-date.

Appreciate you sharing your experience with this, thanks.

You can't change the text in the action log, however attachments are added with the filename of the attachment that was sent in, so the required attachment itself should be easy to find.

It will grow your ServiceManager Database quicker than it might otherwise but as long as you can cope with that..
