Allow work item (Change Request) search by Category

We categorize our changes (Emergency, Normal, Standard, etc...)  using the out of the box category property on the change templates. Would be nice to be able to do a work item search based on the category type.

    Related FR: https://community.cireson.com/discussion/182/search-on-extended-fields-in-service-request#latest

The way to accomplish this currently is to follow the steps described in the comments of this FR.  It is not supported, however.

Good luck getting more votes for this.  Work Item search is at the top of my list but does not seem to have any traction with very many other people.

    Hi @Chris_Schueler

If I have understood properly, this is possible. Go to WorkItem search in the portal, and remove the Default search that loads there as this is searching across all Work Item types and therefor you can only search on properties that exist across all types such as Title. Then using the drop down, add a search for Change and from there you can select Change specific properties such as Category.

You can even save your searches to get to them quickly so you could have a saved search for each of your Categories (Emergency, Normal, Standard, etc...)

Let me know how you get on...

    Geoff
