Want the ability screenshots knowledge base articles in SM portal.

We would like the ability screenshots knowledge base articles in SM portal. Our technical assistance center or help desk supports about 5 dozen different applications.  Our current KB includes a number of screenshots to allow the analyst to more quickly recognize and resolve issues.  Currently, screenshots can't be saved in the SM portal KB.

You can paste screenshots into KB articles.  I am assuming that you are using the HTML KB.  If you paste an image from the clipboard into either the End User or Analyst content editor, it will be saved into the file (base64 encoded, inline with the HTML).  At one point, this did not work in certain browsers, but I am not sure if this is true anymore, since we use IE, Chrome, and FireFox here with regularity.

Two easiest options that come to mind is pasting in from another program, I have had the most success pasting from Word/Onenote into the Portal running on IE. The other option if you know HTML is just use any image to base64 website and enter in the image with html inside of <img> tags.

There are a few different ways of pulling this off; it's discussed in somewhat detail here:
