Standard Asset : Why is the field 'ID' the primary key and the type guid?

In the Cireson Asset Management Pack, the Standard class uses the ID field as the primary key with the type of GUID. Where as the Hardware Asset, Software Asset, and the others (I just spot checked a few others), the ID field is not the primary key, but an internal GUID and the primary key is a field of type STRING that represents the asset.

I was wondering why the Standard asset primary key is a GUID and not a STRING? It seems like a departure from the other classes.

I am not asking for a change, just found this interesting as I am inheriting from this class to create another class type.
