Install CacheBuilder without web server?

I see how it is possible to install the CacheBuilder on a server other than the one my portal is installed on, but the installer wants to add IIS and an additional portal to that box.  Is there any way I can avoid this?  The installer does not allow the portal to be deselected from the components to install.

I just want to run the CacheBuilder in a place that does not consume the same resources as my web traffic.  Do I really need to put a superfluous web portal on that box, too?

One option would be to run the installer and click on 'Browse Installer Files' then edit the 'InstallPortal.ps1' script.  You can whittle it down to just the cachebuilder bits.  That should allow you to just install cachebuilder.

The Platform Service isn't necessary for your cachebuilder box.  You would want it to stay co-located with your portal website.

Thanks, @Justin_Workman.  I looked at InstallPortal.ps1 before asking my question, but it I wanted to find out if that approach would ignore any important dependencies.  I will attempt this now and see how it works out.

Is the Platform Cache service also necessary for this to work correctly?

The Platform Service isn't necessary for your cachebuilder box.  You would want it to stay co-located with your portal website.
