In-place migration from 2012R2 to 2016
Guys,
I'm doing a new installation of SCSM 2016, where we plan to migrate data from a 2012R2 installation.
Info:
- The SQL collation on 2012R2 is set to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
The problem is when I need to install SQL Analysis services and define the Collation - Here I can't select SQL_Latin1_General_CP_CI_AS. The closest I come to this are Latin1_General_CI_AS or Latin_General_CI_AS.
Will this configuration give any problems, and is it supported?
Thanks,
Kenneth

You should be fine with that- both are supported collations. I recommend having a read of this article (its for 2012 but applied to 2016 as well) which explains this is much better detail.

Technically, Latin1_General_100_CI_AS will be better for longer term support. I hope that helps- please bear in mind I'm not a SQL expert!
