Console announcements and portal announcements

Hi,

I'm testing the ticker app for the first time. It works if I make an announcement through the SCSM Console, but not when I make a new portal announcement.
In the console announcements I cannot choose a user collection and there is not HTML description. I expected at least that I can limit the message to a specific range of users.
The documentation is not clear about the fact of displaying a ticker message based on a portal announcement. Is this working by one of you or not possible?

Correct - these are two wholly separate functions that don't sync with one another.

Very true.  However, does anyone else think that this was a strange design choice?

We have been living with this for a few years now, but it is a thought that I have had more than once.  Wouldn't it make sense to extend the existing announcements if/as needed and use them in both places?  I do not see this as a top priority to address in an imminent release, but it has bothered me for a while.

Via Google I found a cireson page about the ConfigMgr ticker app, still readable, but depricated software I see now. https://cireson.com/apps/configmgr-ticker-community-free/

The description of the Servicedesk ticker app is better.

It tells me exactly the limitations.

Clear to me that I can only use this for company wide issues, bigger problems, to avoid getting phone calls again for a problem the servicedesk knows already. Not usable for specific user groups which are using that application with a problem.

Don't know how big the effort would be for cireson do do some development changes.
I agree that this was a strange design choice.

If it does get changed it'd certainly help out the [announcement] functionality on the SMLets Exchange Connector!
