Adding fields to HTML Knowledge Article form in Portal

Are we not able to add fields to the HTML Knowledge Article forms in the Portal? I can add custom fields but any info I put in them doesn't save, it just gets blanked out. I wasn't sure if I needed to add a localization for the Portal to make this work or if there was something else I was missing. I found the article below stating that this isn't supported, but I didn't know if that had changed at all.


Any help or info is greatly appreciated!
