Calendar widget's display of data: colors/patterns for multiple dimensions
As of 10.5, the portal allows color coding of SQL & OData calendar widget data by a single dimension. For example, in a Change calendar, one can color code by a single dimension- such as change type (normal, maintenance, emergency CR's), or Support Group.
I am thinking it would be helpful if we could also optionally visually distinguish items in the calendar widget with a second dimension. For example, change type and support group, or change type and division. In my mind, I'm thinking something along the lines of a background pattern- perhaps similar to Excel's cell fill pattern style.). The benefit would be to allow look at a calendar and quickly get context for 2 dimensions.
A tradeoff I am seeing is a potentially confusing calendar (too many colors & patterns) vs. costs of maintaining multiple calendars (and determining the easiest/best way to structure/organize them). thoughts??
