Cache builder on separate server?

I have two SCSM management servers.
One management server runs the SCSM workflow service.

The other management server maintains console connections.

I would like to install the Cireson Portal on the second management server, but locate the cache builder service on the workflow SCSM management server.

Is this a supported configuration?

Or do I need to locate the cache builder service on the same server as the portal server?

Given this scenario, what would you recommend?

Correct it is a supported configuration and would work. Usually I recommend leaving workflow for just workflow and for ease of upgrade having cachebuilder on the same server as a portal (however not a requirement).

You could pull that off. But it really comes down to your audiance if the severs can support that much load. 
What is the User count who will access the portal?
What is the Agent count for Console? Portal count?
Expected Active work items?

Our environment is relatively small (~300 users).  We have less than ten console users at any given time and roughly 100-200 active work items.

I'll proceed with collocating the cache builder service on the portal server.
