Performance concerns with frequently querying ServiceManagement for data/reporting?
- This is ridiculously simpler than using the DWDataMart
- Since this isn't the DWDataMart, the data is essentially real-time (instead of the normal/possibly modified ETL schedules)
- It looks as though ServiceManagement has all sorts of historical data effectively becoming it's own data warehouse
I'm curious if there are any concerns anyone could envision if this Excel file refreshed its data source every X minutes? (i.e. 15, 30, or 60 minutes)? I ask this because while I know that portal v6 supports dashboarding it doesn't appear to do a refresh automatically if you remain on the page, which makes it more of a "page you visit/refresh" and less of a "page to display on a department area monitor".
And with that said, it made me question "I wonder if the lack of auto-refresh is intentional?"

The lack of auto-refresh is not intentional it just didn't make it in this initial release, but it is in the backlog for sure.
In the interim you could use a browser extension like:
