However, if you DO install SCOM on a server with SCSM already installed, it will overwrite the Uninstall registry key and therefore the SCSM installation will look like it disappeared.
Here is the definitive Microsoft Technet article on the subject.

Hope this has answered your question.
Re: Incorrect Computer CI being associated with Hardware Asset
I found that if the computer is renamed post OSD (in Windows) this issue doesn't occur and the existing CI in SCSM gets updated to the new name. As a workaround I've disabled the option for computer name when re-imaging a computer in SCCM. I'm not sure how feasible that is for you, but it did the trick for me. In saying that, it will be nice to have something in the tool that will prevent this as I'm guessing every other customer would be in the same boat here?
Customizing the Layout of Advanced Request Offerings (Portal version 6.0)
(Please note that I had started this in version 5 of the portal, but Cireson changed their coding in version 6 forcing me to redo all of it. So the code shown below will only work with version 6.)
For anyone who is interested here is how I got my offering to have 3 columns instead of 1.
For anyone wondering about why I did my coding as I did here is a bit more in depth explanation:
</td> <td style=" max-width: 25%; white-space: nowrap; padding-left:5px;">department
- I closed the previous cell in this line so that the text box appears under Title
- I user the max-width so that each of my elements fit and I have some responsiveness to resizing
- white-space: nowrap is used to stop the text from wrapping too soon in the cell (if you play with the True/False you will see what I mean)
- padding-left:5px is used for the spacing between the text boxes
</td> </tr><tr><td>Type of Incident:</td></tr> <tr> <td style=" ">
Unauthorized/improper use</td> <td style="white-space:nowrap; ">
Unauthorized Access</td> <td style="white-space:nowrap; ">
Computer security hack/attack</td> </tr> <tr><td style="white-space:nowrap; ">
- When I move in to the True/False checkboxes you will note that I have moved the location of my coding, the row and cell tags are now in the row before the text - this is so that the checkbox appears before the text
Hope this helps some one.
Why is license key expiration reporting incorrectly?
Our portal is reporting that the license will expire in 4 days. In the Admin settings we are seeing this:-
These license key(s) expire on: 01/01/0001
I have tried refreshing the keys but it has made no difference. We are running version 5.0.7 of the portal.
Has anyone else seen this and know what the problem might be?
TIA
Notify analyst sends two email to line manager - is this normal?
I have a review activity as my first task in a service request template with 'line manager should review' selected. We are using the Notify Analyst app to send out an email to the reivewers and have checked 'Skip notification if activity status is not In-Progress.' for the workflow when a reviewer is added.
The history tab of the review activity is showing the activity becoming active 5-10 seconds before the line manager is added as reviewer. My guess it's a condition where both workflows are becoming true at the same time.
Curious to hear if others have experienced the same.
/Michael
Re: homepage on load click / PR 5.2
We are working on a hotfix for v6 with this issue where service catalog requiring a click to show request offerings.Candice_Yeudall said:We are seeing the same problem in Version 6 in IE 11, users really should not have to click the page to see the request offerings.
Re: Experiences with access rights in the portal and manual restart of the Cache builder service
Hi Joe,
thanks for the detailed explanation. This shed some light into the process.
I will do documentation for our help desk to tell them that it usually will take 24 hours. It wouldn't make sense to try to explain differences. And I don't want to restart Cache builder and Website every other hour for access rights to be poupulated more quickly.
Regards
Ingrid.
